Dear Santa,
I have been a pretty good boy this year, and so I hope you will visit our house on Christmas Eve.

This year for Christmas, I want a DVD-RW for my computer. I can use it a lot, and it's not so expensive.

I'd also like some new winter pajamas so I'll be nice and toasty warm on the cold winter nights.

The last thing I'd like is a couple of 2GB memory cards for my digital camera. That way I can take many many pictures of my family's Christmas fun!

There are a few rules which you need to know in case you can't read Chinese...
1. Everyone needs to cross the river
2. Only 2 people on the raft at any one time
3. The Father cannot stay with the Daughters without the Mother's presence
4. The Mother cannot stay with the Sons without the Father's presence
5. The Criminal (striped Black & White Top) cannot stay with a family member without the policeman there
6. Only Father, Mother and the Policeman know how to operate the raft.

The first one is "Water know the answer(by Masaru Emoto)" .
We can know the mysterious world of crystal of water , and what is important in our life from the book.

Iaido Rules!

Hey everyone. I just thought I'd give a little news about recent events for myself.
As you know, I practice iaido 居合道 here in Japan. I really enjoy this martial art, and hope to teach someday when I get back to the US.
Two weeks ago I competed in the All Shizuoka Iaido tournament in Shizuoka City. There were 150 people who competed from 1-kyu to 5-dan. I competed in the 3-dan group and got 3rd place overall. The top 4 people in my group were all from the Numazu dojo. We also got 1st and 3rd in the 2-dan group, and 1st in the 5-dan group. Pretty well overall I'd say!
So, now I have a small trophy at home that says 3rd place. Cool.
Also, last weekend, I went again to the same dojo in Shizuoka. It's located at gokokujinja near the mountain. It was pretty darn hot inside, but I took and passed my 4-dan test. Yeah! We had to do 5 katas that the judges chose, and also to write a small written test about the concepts of iaido. I wrote my essay in English, but it was good enough. So, I passed!

新幹線大爆破(Shinkansen Daibakuha)

I'd like to introduce old Japanese movie. It's title is "Shinkansen Daibakuha". This story's heroes are three bombers. They plant a bomb under Hikari Shinkansen 109. This bomb operate at a speed of less than 80km/h. They demand money from Japanese police and government. Japanese police and JR try to remove this bomb and arrest them. Is it possible for Japanese police and JR to remove this bomb and arrest them safely, or is it possible for three bombers to get big money? I recommend you to watch this movie and confirm end of this story for yourself!

I recently read the book called, "Tokyo Tower." It is really good book. I was almost crying after reading it. The part of story is set in Fukuoka, which I was born in, and my friend recomended strongly, so I started reading it. I don't like reading, but once I started, I couldn't stop reading it.
I don't know how much I should tell you about story, but I am sure you will like it.
This story will become a T.V drama, starting from end of July, and a movie, being released next year. It would be good to read it both after watching T.V drama and a movie and before wathing them.

Brave story

I like Miyabe miyuki. She is famos novelist in Japan. She wrire novel "Brave story"
is very interesting. Of course her other stories are interesting, too.
"Brave story" The world of this story is not reality.A chief character is Wataru.
He is a primary schoolchild. He goes for adventure to grant one's wish.
Because the reason is he wants to change a family of real world. He's mother attenpted suicide. He's father had an affair and left a house. He is very hard.
So, he go to adventure another world.There is a goddess changing fate there.
He want to meet to a goddess. He have some friends and some problems.
Don't forget to tune in read book.

I recently listened to the 6th book in the Harry Potter Series, The Half-Blood Prince. I have to say that I think it is probably the best book in the series so far.

Ever since the 3rd installment, "The Prisoner of Azkaban," the movies have started to become a little darker. The first death of a student occurs in book 4, Voldemort returns in book 5, and the story continues to get darker in "Prince."

The kids are growing up (they're now in their 6th year at Hogwarts) or about 17 years old, and are starting to experience some of the things that all teenagers have to deal with.

Harry suspects that Snape and Malfoy are up to something no good and is trying very hard to catch them at it. Harry's two companions continue to help him, and Headmaster Dumbledore starts giving Harry private lessons which give us more insight into the life of Tom Riddle and how he became Lord Voldemort.

There's a surprise ending that I won't tell you about because I don't want to ruin it for you, but you WILL be surprised!

I've read the book once, and this time I decided to listen to the book on audio. Jim Dale, an Englishman, reads the story quite well. He changes each person's voice and makes it very entertaining to listen to. I suggest that you listen to the audio version if you have already read the book yourself. It's a great way to hear the story!

I am really looking forward to the new book 7 and of course to seeing "The Order of the Phoenix" movie when it comes out.

I can’t get trouts this season than I expected.
I don’t know that reasons but I think it may be a lot of rain this year than last year.
This morning I went to fishing near my house’s river.
I got a few trouts, one was a big its size was about 25cm AMAGO TROUT.

Well, Golden Week is over and now it's back to work. I hope that everyone had a nice holiday. I had a chance to spend time with my family and played a lot with my son. It was a nice break.
I didn't enjoy the traffic though, it was so crowded everwhere we went! It's amazing how crowded it becomes just because of the holiday. It took us hours just to go a short distance by car. I really hate travelling during the holidays in Japan because EVERYONE else is travelling at the same time.
Well, I hope you all feel refreshed and ready to go again - I'm still feeling "slow" from the holiday.

hanami

Personally I think the main purpose of hanami is feeling the atmosphere of the place surrounded by cherry blossom. So, I like to be in quiet place, if I go to hamami. But I do not say I dislike the lively place, though I sometimes feel it noisy. I just prefer the quiet place rather than lively (in other word, noisy) place in most cases. Talking each other under the cherry blossom makes us feeling different from ordinary life. Maybe, this is one way of enjoying hanami. Nevertheless, the way of enjoying hanami is individual. I think each person have a different kind of the way of enjoying hanami. I do not deny the opinion if it is different form my opinion.

Anyway, I think hanami is good Japanese traditional. We should keep good manner and enjoy hanami every year.

I went to Hanami on last sunday. I walk a row of cherry tree in Sakurazutsumi. Sunday is windy. So, Cherry petals fell like snowflakes. It's very beautiful.
But, Next day. The cherry blossoms have fallen.

So, how do you say 花見 "Hanami" in English? My guess is you have to add some extra words to say something like, Cherry blossom viewing (party).

This year for "hanami" I would like to take my family to Mishima Shrine to see the Cherry blossoms. I've been there before during this season, and the trees are very beautiful.

I also enjoy the small shops selling food. I always eat steamed, buttered potatoes, yaki-soba, and maybe a crepe or some custard doughnuts. Of course a cold beer is always nice too. I do think that at Mishima shrine there are too many shops however, and it gives me a crowded feeling. I prefer a more "open" area.

I hope you enjoy your Hanami experience. What will you do?

I decided to two things as My NY’s resolutions. First, I am planning to give more effort in separating garbage for recycling. I thought I could do it better. Maybe I don’t need great effort to do. In the dormitory we have to separate garbage to just two categories. So it does not need great effort. That’s the reason.
Secondary, I am thinking to climb up staircase as many times as possible. I think I need more excise for healthier life. It is better to start from what is easy to start. And I can do it every day. I don’t think that is enough. But still, it is worth trying and it is easier to keep doing than playing sports or something.

Hello new comer and other friend. I'm windy of NMZ OJT member.
I think I have to many promise for my life this year. Because I didn't improve my life for I'm not promise to NewYear resolution last year. It's my mistake.

First of my NewYear resolution is going to cut down on drinking coffee, and smoking. I was drinking coffee, and smoking a lot everyday. So I have to drink coffee and smoking a harf.
Next, Ｉ'm planning to keep teaching swimming for kids. Every Saturday evenning, I'm teaching swimming for kids who having asthma and allergy. It's very hard, because I can't make plan for me and my family every Saturday evening. And it's a volunteer. But I'm happy to see that kids become healthy.
Next, I'm thinking of starting exercise. Recently, I can't go to beach for windsurfing many time. Maybe I won't be able to go to beach a lot this year. So I have to start exercise for keep my health. Actually, I want to windsurfing for my health.
Thease resolution are very hard for me. but I promise for me.
Finaly, I'm planning to try harder in English. It's very important for my life. I have to stady hard ASAP.

Well, The new year has begun, and we are hopefully all getting back to our "pre-holiday" lifestyles. During my NY's holiday, I enjoyed some time with my family at my in-law's house in Gifu and had a chance to relax a bit and drink some beer while eating some fine New Year's food. It was very nice! The photo above is from the Nanguu Taisha in Tarui-cho, Gifu on NY's Eve.

Now we're starting 2006 and again things are getting busier and busier. Of course most people want to improve their lives in some way, and so we often make a "New Year's Resolution" or a type of promise to ourselves to improve our life.

This year, one of my NY's resolutions is to cut down on eating sweets so much. I love snacks, especially chocolate, but I have to eat less or I'll get too fat! So, I'm going to try!

Another resolution is to start walking in the area around my house. I want to take my son for walks not only to get exercise, but also to enjoy some time outdoors.
Those are two of my New Year's resolutions this year. How about you? Do you have any?

I had a busy weekend. My family and I went to Tokyo on Saturday to do some shopping at Costco in Machida. We were looking for a bigger-sized x-mas tree and lights, but most places were sold out. So, we have to keep looking. We did find some toys and books for Tyler's Christmas present though, and that will be fun to give him next month. I like Costco, but it was pretty crowded.

Yesterday I took some bridal photos at Gajoen in Meguro. Wow! That place is huge, and very pretty. It seemed like a nice place to get married, but there were so many weddings at the same time. The staff said there were 25 weddings that day. That's crazy! Nice location, but no thank you. The bride looked very beautiful though.

So, we got home last night pretty late and now it's Happy Monday. How was your weekend?

Last Sunday, my family went to narita for my mother's 17th pray. I drove on highway between Numazu to Narita. We saw a lot of fall color around highway, and we saw many people who visited for watch of fall color.

Yesterday, I went to drink with some friends. I mistike. My face bump against a wall.
「Ouch! That hurts!」
I have a pain in my nose. I got a bruise on the nose and forehead. I developed a bump on my forehead where I was hit.
I'm shock!! It feels pain. I don't wears glasses. I'm worry and sad.

Last Sunday, my family went to "Bishamonten" shrine by bicycle.
I was very tired, because I carried a lot of snack, drink and lunch in my bag for kids.
And "Bishamonten"shrine was pretty far - about 15km from Senbon beach in Numazu.
However, riding bicycle was very fun. We felt happy to eat outdoor lunch after having arrived at "Bishamonten" shrine.
I'm thinking, where should next go to？

Fall weather/season makes me want to eat.
I have more intake calories than a consumption calories.
However, I'm hangry because I move well.
By the way, I climbed Mt. Chouja and Mt. Tenshi.
This mount near a Tanuki Lake.
The course was five hour and easy to walk.
The colord leaves were about to be over.
It was a carpet of dead leaves.
I was fun.

Fall season makes me want to go for walks in the forest. I love the smell of the trees and fallen leaves, and the quietness of the forest. Usually it's cool, and there's a cool breeze also.
Summer is so busy, and many people are out and about, but in the fall I feel that things slow down just a bit. If I go to the ocean or to the park, there aren't as many people, so I can enjoy my free space and privacy.
In Minnesota, I often went for walks in the woods in the fall. It's very peaceful and relaxing.
Enjoy the fall before it turns to winter!

One of my motorbike friend broke his leg at the bush riding last month. Then he shows me X-rays photograph. There are 9 bolts and the treatment costs took 990000 yen!

Though I have never broke bone, I can easily imagine it is quite painful! I should be carefull.

I went to a movie at Sunday with my hasband. The film is not showing at Mishima.
I went to Numazu. We had a very enjoy!! This film name is " Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" . This movie is very strange and wonders and not possible, but we strange to say interesting. The film starring Johmmy Depp. I did'nt know him. But, I watched this movie and I like him. There is something odd about him. But, he is very cool.
I recommend this movie.

Yesterday, I went to Omaezaki beach for windsurfing with my friend. I usually windsurfing at senbon beach, ushibuse beach or hara beach when the strong wind was blowing. However, we went to Omaezaki because wind didn't blow to only eastern area of shizuoka. Very strong wind blew in Omaezaki beach when I leave there and was convinced that we could windsurfing all day. Therefore, we surfing that moved to another beach in the morning. In the afternoon, we came back to Omaezaki and enjoyed windsurfing.
In winter, wind becomes strong, and wave becomes loud from now on. A very pleasing season comes over for me.

This week's theme is, "I feel ... when I ......"
Well, I feel FAST when I wear my special sailing hat. It's a Tilley hat, made in Canada by Tilley Endurables Inc.
It has a lifetime guarantee so they will replace it for me if it's in bad condition.
When I wear this hat, I feel confident and I think that makes me faster on the race course as I sail my Laser around the marks. It's also a very useful hat because it keeps the sun off my neck when it's hot, and it's waterproof, so I stay dry when it rains.

I went to Guam this G.W. I hoped to speak to many persons in English . But, I could not speak English. I did not have English word.(I haven't had English word yet.) I had plenty of some topics. But, how should I say? I was very sad.
I was back in Japan. Bradley gave me a chance . I started studying English. I'm an inexperienced person. So, I do my best. My goal = I speak English fluently.

My favorite is jeans of Levis. For 1984, I came across Levis for the first time. I before coming across Levis put on cheap jeans.
Levis which I bought first was ”№501”. I loved it very much and I bought next year the same it. Afterthat I bought ”№506” and ”№603”successively every year.
Now, I still put on carefully.
Recently, I want new Levis. However, I must save money because I can't get a lot of pocket money. I'm very uneasy whether I can deposit me.

A busy but good holiday

Tadaima! Yes, I'm back from my holiday to Minnesota and refreshed to start work again. Well, maybe.
People ask me, "How was your holiday?" The standard answer is, "Busy, but good." I and my family had a lot of time together to talk and Tyler had a great time exploring all around Grandpa and Grandma's house. He was crawling around, standing, and drooling on everything!
I had a chance to meet a few old friends at my class reunion at Concordia. I was a little disappointed because none of my close friends attended, but I did have a chance to watch the football team win so that was good!
We did some shopping and got a lot of good bargains on clothes and things for Tyler and work clothes for me. Yuki especially enjoyed the Mall of America in Minneapolis.
I did have a chance to eat some really good food. My mother is a great cook and we had some excellent lasagna and also a roasted turkey with all the fixings. It was all really good. I especially enjoyed drinking my favorite American beer again!
Yuki and I also saw one movie, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." It was pretty funny and interesting. I like Johnny Depp- he's very talented.
Well, it was a great holiday, but now I suppose it's time to get back to work!

ITALY

Hi!! I'm Eri. I went to haneymoon in Italy. I had a very good time. I hear "Itary is a danger zone. You should be careful!" I saw a hippie but I was not danger.
I went to Florence and Siena and San Marino and the Vatican and Roma and Capri. All place was very very wonderful and beautiful!!! I love Italy. I hope to live in Italy sometime. My most favorite place in Italy was Capri. Capri was small island. But Capri was a lot of people here and there. I went to a cave. That cave was very beautiful, because water was blue in cave. (A Grotta Azzurra)
I enjoyed speaking Italian a little. I could make them understood. But, I couldn't understand what they were saying. I knew Italian a little. " Bongiorno, Buonasera, Arrivedarci, Grazie, Scusi etc..."

Flat tire

I went to dirt bike touring last weekend around Mt Fuji. Tought I could enjoy bush riding with freinds, I hitted rear tire to rock quite hard on the way to home. Then tire became flat. I was alone and I didn't have spare tire.
So I didn't have no choice except I went back with flat tire. It was hard to keep balance with flat tire for long distance(about 30km) and I had to mind that a tire did not come from a rim.
Anyway Just now I got new tire at Yahoo Auction! I will chage tire and tube in this weekend and try bush ride again.

Over the weekend I went with my family to Mt. Fuji Kid's World. (子供の国) I think it's a great place to take your kids to play. There are many different "play" areas where kids can climb on a jungle gym, ride a kayak or play in the water, ride many different kinds of bicycles, ride a horse, and see lots of different kinds of animals and bugs.
It's located near Safari Park on Mt. Fuji, and doesn't take long to get there. If you have a free day, I suggest you check out this place with your family - it was a lot of fun.

I enjoyed BBQ at the upper of FUJI river with my friends on last Saturday. It takes 2 hours from Susono to there. It was fine and I felt so good! My friend have small rubber raft, so we ride on the mild place of river. I rafted first time, It was so fun sports.

I sold one of my motorbike

I was selling one of my motorbike DUCATI 900SS in Yahoo Auction. Then Last Tuseday this motorbike was sold at good price! Though I liked this motorbike because this motorbike has many nice designs, I decided to sell. Maybe I should not ride like this fast motorbike because I always try to ride fast, so it is easy to image that I fall off. Too dangerous!
This motorbike is made in Italy then color is Italian red. I like this color. I think this red is something different from normal red. I don't know what is different. Like a bload! Do you like this color?

My holiday and why I hate Microsoft

Well, we finished up another long holiday, hopefully rested and refreshed. I was busy going here and there.
We took Tyler to Safari Park in Gotenba. That was pretty interesting and we saw many different animals there.
We also went shopping at Costco in Yokohama and bought some cheap goods. I really like their easy-bake bread!
After that we went to Hakkejima to see the fish museum and ride some of the attractions. There weren't many people, so we didn't feel too crowded there. Tyler really liked watching the penguins.
My family and my mother-in-law and grandmother-in-law all went to Kanaya Onsen, in Shimoda. They have a beautiful bath and we could eat some good sashimi there. We were lucky that the busy holiday traffic was moving in opposite directions.
The rest of the holiday I was in Gifu with my wife's family. We had a chance to relax, drink beer, read, and watch some DVD's. It was relaxing.
So now the holiday's over, and it's back to work. I hope we can all make it through this week for the weekend!
Oh, and I hate Microsoft. After installing the "critical updates" yesterday on my home PC, it crashed and now I have to reformat my hard disk and re-install Windows. Curse them!
